Done

hchur01 - Weekly Home Prayer Meeting

Done

Just touching the present,
“Done” jumps into the past.
The prayer is requested –
They respond fast.

They take time to act
With words to the Lord,
Forgetting everyday busyness,
They pray with one accord.

When they say, “Done,”
As if yesterday,
I know what they mean –
I can trust them to pray.

When close friends say, “done,” when we ask them to do something, we know that it is very important to them and that it is as good as finished.  This is the same with our brothers and sisters in Christ when praying for a certain need.  “Done” gives us the assurance that they will really pray and pray quickly.

National Night Out

patriotic.usa.26 -

National Night Out

The first Tuesday of August
Again brings windy weather,
And also people to
National Night out, together.

Volunteers give time
To better their community.
What could be a
Better opportunity?

People surround that huge aerial photo
Which again on the easel sets,
Showing our area in the old days,
Seeing how change has been met.

Ice cream serving –
Bowl after bowl after bowl.
Some toppings “chocolate or caramel?”
Too much whipped cream – “let’s have some control!”

The Environmental Lady
Offering help for the home.
The Balloon Artist shapes
Animals, swords, and heart hats for the dome.

An obstacle course –
Olympic style.
The young ones having fun.
You can see their smiles.

The Cub Scout Pack,
Engaging the crowd,
With events galore,
Everyone laughs out loud.

Emergency Preparedness –
“If we can help just one.”
This our own *CERT*,
Demonstrating readiness when disaster comes.

Gifts for children –
Animal caps, airplanes, bubbles, and light sticks,
Drawing for adults –
Train rides, first aid kits, emergency pack – many picks.

Community Officers engage
Citizens to implement
A neighborhood watch
So they can be more vigilant.

But best of all
It’s a time to gather
Meeting friends – old and new,
Talking neighborhood things that matter.

The first Tuesday of August
On an evening of windy weather
By the Way, let’s meet again
For National Night Out, together.

National Night Out (NNO) is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.  It promotes relationships between neighborhoods and the police, and community building.  Thousands of communities are involved.

The “By the Way” at the end of this poem has a triple meaning. The meanings are “incidentally”; the name of the location of our local event – which happens to be on the church grounds at “Nazarene Way”; and finally the “Nazarene’s Way”.

“What are they learnin’ you at college?”

“I know that ‘pi r squared’
From my math class!!!”
He asserted, though usually boasting rare.

“Pie are square?”
Pappy didn’t like the sound.

“I ain’t sending you to college no more.
Everyone knows that

The Land of No Goodbyes

fsp030 - blue sky and cloud 3

The Land of No Goodbyes

There’s a land of no goodbyes,
The Bible tells me so.
It has golden streets
Where those who trust Him go.

No tears of sadness
Or of grief.
Just Jesus’ love –
Our quick relief.

First there are hugs
As we meet family and friends,
And even from others we’d thought
We’d never see again.

We enjoy a time of reunion,
Catching up on all things new.
Over there,
Just beyond the blue.

There’s a land of no goodbyes,
The Bible tells me so.
It has golden streets
Where those who trust Him go.

On this earth, we say a lot of goodbyes whether we or others are moving away; or in death, etc.  These goodbyes are very hard for most of us, but in Heaven there will be no goodbyes to our loved ones because there will be no ending!

All Things Are Possible

bible-man-001 man holding Bible

All Things Are Possible

All things are possible
When we believe.
All things are possible
Then we receive.

His Word as our guide,
We hold His hand’s hollow.
We walk in His steps,
Jesus’ actions we must follow.

When we travel
Down life’s thorny road,
We look to our Savior
Who died lifting our load.

All things are possible
When we believe.
All things are possible
Then we receive.

Our Hope and Prayer

pat2004 - American Christian Patriot

Our Hope and Prayer

Today 2015
The prophecies
Are being fulfilled
In dynamic ways revealed.

God wants us to trust
Him in all things,
As we watch and pray
Each changing day.

Pray without ceasing,
Pray with your family,
Pray with your friends,
If you want to see amends.

Satan in our land today –
With us doesn’t toy.
Everywhere going –
Destroy! Destroy!! Destroy!!!

God needs to hear our prayers,
As we fervently ask
For mercy –
“Please forgive our nation for the past.”

God powerfully could change this picture,
As we pray, in unity, against Satan’s foils.
Turning this land back to Him,
Making Satan recoil.  Our Hope.
