She walks quietly
Into Church . . . late.
Her clothes are old
And her stringy hair wet and . . . straight.
Sitting all by herself
Younger than most of those . . . there.
But tries to fit in,
Appears like she has joy and . . . no cares.
Her head looks down,
The scripture mentioned by the one who . . . preaches.
She fumbles with her Bible,
The passage she slowly . . . reaches.
Then the assembly gets into small groups
For sentence prayers on which she . . . passes.
Everyone rises to sing.
It was obvious she isn’t up to the . . . task.
She might leave, unnoticed,
Because many insiders . . . smirch.
“Not the kind of person
We see in . . . Our Church.”
The preacher then announces something
Which catches the congregation . . . by surprise.
He says that
She was just earlier . . . baptized.

We never know who is visiting our church. A friendly, warm, caring greeting is best for all because we want to attract persons to Christ. We wouldn’t want to have any kind of mistaken identity.
