His Place

jesus_00121 - Jesus Welcomes Sinners

His Place

I know it was “His Place,”
Because He was there
Through every caring person
The Gospel they share.

I walked in that basement
Below the church building old,
And saw that huge painted flag
On the wall unfolded.

Some kids greeted me
With handshakes of the time.
They didn’t care if I was rich,
Or didn’t have a dime.

Some had long hair like me,
Some short, but I didn’t care.
They showed my love.
How could it be?

They offered some cookies and some pop,
And we talked, and talked, and talked,
They cared about my problems.
They loved me a lot.

That’s why it’s called “His Place.”
It was Jesus talking to me.
When I left that painted basement that day
I was changed in my life
Headed on a different Way.

As I look back
I thank God for “His Place,”
And who I met there,
Kids that loved Jesus
To help with my despair.

That’s why it’s called “His Place.”
To Him it belonged.
After I left there,
My heart had a new song.

Thankful Praying

When we look back at all God’s done,
In giving us His wonderful Son,
We want to do some thankful praying
Each and every one.

But we so oft’ forget all those other things
That God gives us every day.
Like the Children of Israel – who grumbled –
Dissatisfied in so many ways.

Taking time to look at what’s God’s done
In our past, we can see
That He has done many wonders
For you and me.

In our own lives,
He’s blessed us again and again.
So why don’t we remember what He’s done
To thank Him more, my friend?

This thankful praying is what God wants
And reminds us many times, too.
“Where are the nine?” Jesus asked.
That one, remembered the right thing to do.

So when we go through the day
And talk to God above.
Let’s remember to thankful pray
Giving Him all our love.
