The Backseat Driver

automobile.42 - Black and White

The Backseat Driver

The backseat driver,
Whizzing on the viaduct, over,
Always has suggestions
For the driver, from this rover.

“Slow down or you’ll miss the turn.”
“Don’t go there. It’s the wrong way.”
“When I say go — go. Go !!!!!!”
“Hit the brake, I say.”

A keen “navigator”
With a avid sense of chat,
This “driver” talks about
A little of this and then a lot of that.

As the real driver appears in traffic court,
He admits he was slack
Crossing over the solid yellow line,
Listening to the person in the back.

The judge isn’t happy
With this kind of plea,
And finds the driver guilty –
Who has total responsibility.

The backseat driver,
Whizzing on the viaduct, over,
Always has suggestions
For the driver, from this rover.
