Curtain Up!

Curtain Up on the stage of life!
This New Year’s drama starts
With you on the stage,
As the foot and spotlights
Both shine bright.

Not a lark.
You’re excited, yet fearful
In this program to embark.

All thespians ready to move
Through each scene
With dilemmas quite a few.
Plots thickens as characters careen.

You trust your Heavenly Director,
The Lord Jesus Christ.
Dealing with the lying antagonist.
Dealing with the sacrifice.

Whether showstopper or upstaged.
Whether dialogue or soliloquy.
No bit parts here.
The finale is Heaven’s eternity.

Curtain Up on the stage of life!
A New Year – looking ahead.
With Christ, nothing to dread.

I usually write something here about my poems.  The inspiration for this one comes from two persons.  The first is my high school speech teacher, Joan [/Jo-Ann/] Murray-Hogan.  She taught English, speech, broadcasting, and drama; and is currently active in productions. The second is Steve Dini, a TV personality, who has been teaching high school broadcasting and drama for many years.

What Wonders God Has Done!

shepherds-0017 - Angel in Circle and Shepherds

What Wonders God Has Done!

Luke 2: 8-15

Angels soaring to the earth,
At faster-than-light speeds,
Got to get there with Good News,
First the shepherds will receive.

An angel hovers over,
The Message, with evidence, delivers.
“Don’t be afraid!” he says.
It calms their awestruck quivers.

Then the whole band appears.
“Glory to God in the Highest . . .”
They praise God saying this.
Then all is quiet.

As fast as the angels came,
Now off they rapidly fly.
His birth Message given.
They quickly disappear from the sky.

The first telegram was sent by the son of a minister, Samuel Morse, from Washington, D.C. to Baltimore, Maryland on May 24, 1844.  He sent the message – “What Hath God Wrought!” [What Wonders God Has Done!  See the Holy Bible – Numbers 23:23]

Another succinct Message was from the angels to the shepherds showing God’s wonders in sending His Son, Jesus Christ.
