Graduation Day

Graduation Day

Verse 1:
I remember so well my high school days
At the school outside of town,
How I used to think of tests
And always give a frown,
But I knew the work was not in vain
Because of the reward.

Chorus:
Graduation Day!
Graduation Day!
At last I’ve passed the Test!
Hallelujah!
At last I’m home to Rest.

Verse 2:
Each test I tried to pass myself.
Alone I could not do it!
The teacher helped and guided me.
He guided me right through it,
But I knew the work was not in vain
Because of the reward.

(Chorus)

Verse 3:
When my life on earth is over
And I have passed the Test
A Graduation Day I’ll see
And it will be the best!
But I know the work was not in vain
Because of the Reward.

(Chorus)

Verse 4:
The commencement speech is giv’n by God.
He’ll say, “I love you so!
I sent my Son to die for you
And now you truly know
A great diploma you’ll receive.
The Teacher loves you so.”

Chorus:
Graduation Day!
Graduation Day!
At last I’ve passed the Test!
Hallelujah!
At last I’m home to Rest.

When a Christian dies this is not the end.  It is really their Graduation Day – a Graduation to Heaven.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”  [Holy  Bible – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – NIV]

The Scoutmaster’s Minute

The Scoutmaster’s Minute

The Scoutmaster’s Minute,
The Scoutmaster’s Mile,
Are both nonstandard measures,
But they’ll make you smile.

Whether up in front,
At the meetings, camp, or awards,
The Scoutmaster’s the leader,
And the boys are never bored.

He encourages the boys
To be good winners – and losers.
The visionary, the prod,
This humble man of God.

In the parking lot,
He leads a circle of prayer,
For safety, strength, and unity,
Of Jesus to make them aware.

In the great outdoors,
At the camp,
A love for God’s creation
On each boy is stamped.

On the trail
The mile may really be longer,
But with his help
The boys become much stronger.

The Scoutmaster’s Mile,
The Scoutmaster’s Minute,
Somewhat longer
But it’s worth Who’s in it.

The Mile and Minute
For Troop 777.
The boys will rally ’round –
A little closer to Heaven.

The Empty Classroom

The Empty Classroom

The classroom was empty,
Not a child in their chair.
For summer vacation
Was already there.

The teacher looked out,
Not one hand in the air.
No questions to answer,
No books to repair.

Hurt fingers and feelings,
There were none.
No laughter,
No fun.

No lessons of Bible,
Math, Reading,
Or tests.
No games and all of the rest.
Another class,
Another year,
It was the best!

He thought of each child,
Looked at notes he’d received
Saying, “I love you.”
His heart – it was grieved.
To lose such a class
Who could replace?
A tear gently dropped down his face.

But now to prepare
For another year to come.
To show a new class
The love of God’s Son.

And this scene repeated
Until through heaven’s door
The Christian teacher will walk
To the Classroom once more.

But this time he sits
With his students in place
In that never empty Classroom
Looking at the Master Teacher’s face.
