My Home Church
(Philippians 1:6)
Thinking of my home church,
With some here and some gone.
Leaving wonderful memories
That constantly live on.
Those members,
Through Christ’s blood bought,
Loved on and guided me
To make me what I ought.
The choir singing bright
With the soloist touching my heart.
The Preacher preaching
God’s message impart.

In Sunday School,
The Bible faithfully taught
From sweet babies to precious Seniors,
The Word eagerly sought.
Before and after service,
Fellowshipping and praying for each other.
Showing our care and concern –
Sisters and brothers.

Times weren’t always good.
There were up and downs,
But God pulled us through,
Faithful to turn things around.
Thinking of my home church,
With some here and some gone.
They leave wonderful memories
That constantly live on.

We may be members of several churches in our lifetime. But dear to many of our hearts is our Home Church where we first came to Jesus Christ and where we first drank of the milk of His Word. We have many fond memories of those ones who taught us his Word, perhaps since our infancy, and who cared for us.
One of my followers asked me when she would see something published again here. I have been very busy, but now my newest poem. I do really appreciate her asking!
