Rest
I Kings 18 – 19, Psalm 23, Hebrews 4:9-10
Rest for the weary.
Rest for the day.
Rest for the downtrodden.
Help is on the way!
Walking on the journey,
We’re tired and dismayed.
Feeling like we’ve had it
And every inch we fade.
Like Elijah versing the prophets –
Those wicked ones of Baal.
The test was hard and gruesome,
But God did not fail.
He went from that place famished.
So exhausted he couldn’t move.
God sent the angel to give sustenance.
His faith was tried, then proved.
Lying in green pastures,
A promise from above.
By the waters, still,
We feel His great love.
At the End a rest is promised
To those who follow God.
Eternal, glorious, peaceful,
Way above this sod.

Writing a poem about Rest was hard for me because I was tired myself. We all need to heed these words, stopping along the way for rest.
