A New Year Resolution

As the New Year dawns before us
We will humble pray
That we may trust in our Lord Jesus
Each and every day.

We don’t know what ill awaits us.
We don’t know what good.
But we will trust Him now and always
So we’ll do what we should.

As we see the days unfolding
That God holds there one by one
We’ll trust Him more daily
And remember how He gave His Son.

So walking through the days
We’ll ponder our God helper in the past.
So during this New Year we won’t wander
But stay by Him to the last.

We don’t know our future, but we know who holds our future. We have seen Him help us in the past, and He will continue to help us in the future. Our part is being
faithful to Him, as He is faithful to us.

Turning Over a New Leaf

Turning Over a New Leaf

“Happy New Year!”
All of us say.
We want to turn over a new leaf.
We resolve to change our ways.

To be kinder and gentler,
On a big time diet go,
To have a listening ear,
Or spend our money slow.

To take up a new hobby,
To read a real long book,
To devote less time texting,
To catch more fish on hooks.

Then January 15th or so
Those resolutions dropping.
The exercise machine sent back.
The improved personality stopping.

But there is always next year.
In 365 days it comes around again.
Another year – another chance.
To amend the way we’ve been.

“Happy New Year!”
All of us say.
We want to turn over a new leaf.
We want to change our ways – again!

On the Edge of Peace

On the Edge of Peace

Luke 2:14 / Luke 24:36

On the edge of peace,
Before Baby Jesus was born –
A world of turmoil,
A world forlorn.

Then into time
God sent His Son –
The Prince of Peace,
The Holy One.

God’s plan fulfilled,
A Way made for humankind
To bridge the gap,
This relationship bind.

On the edge of peace,
In sin we die,
Missing all God has,
Then to Him we cry.

In our search
Jesus comes to us.
Will we accept?
Will we trust?

The Prince of Peace
Brings Peace on Earth,
To each believer,
Through Jesus’ birth.

As we stand on the edge of Christmas, many stand on the edge of peace. Before Jesus was born the world didn’t have any idea what the Prince of Peace could bring them. Before we are rescued by Jesus, we don’t know what wonderful peace can be in our lives.

Lord, Help Me

Lord, Help Me

James 1:22

Lord, help me pay attention to You –
Not just say I pay attention.
Not only reading the Bible,
But studying and comprehension.

Lord, help me trust You –
Not just say I trust.
Not only following You,
But making faith a must.

Lord, help me obey You –
Not just say I obey.
Not only keeping close,
But on Your pathway stay.
