I Kings 19:12

We plan it and we do it.
We think it works that way,
But sometimes
Our best planned plans just go astray.

Occasionally we see things coming,
But many times not.
There are so many life surprises.
They may leave us distraught.

But one thing’s always certain –
The Lord’s with us now and all the time.
He cares and keeps special watch on us
Just to make sure that we are fine.

So as we continue through our lives,
We must trust the Lord’s will
To gently guide us,
As we listen to His small voice still.

One sure thing is that there will be uncertainly in our lives. This is when we need to continue to trust our Lord Jesus Christ. He was and is our Rescuer and Leader. As Leader, He not only goes before us, but also walks beside us.

Lo planeamos, y lo hacemos.
Creemos que de esa manera funciona,
pero a veces, en la ejecución,
nuestros mejores planes se desmoronan.

En ocasiones vemos las cosas venir,
pero muchas veces no podemos prever:
la vida viene con tantas sorpresas
que nos pueden al fin ensombrecer.

Pero una cosa sí será siempre segura:
el Señor está con nosotros constantemente;
nos cuida manteniendo especial vigilia
para nuestro bienestar hacerlo permanente.

Behind the Curtain
Hebrews 6:18-20

Jesus went behind the curtain,
(From top to bottom rent),
To the Holy of Holies,
For us His life was spent.

Jesus is our pioneer,
Dying and rising on this earth’s sod.
Now we are running
Toward our Hope in God!

We now can go through Jesus,
(To the open gates of Heaven, too),
To be in the very presence of God,
Our Hope – firm and true.

Detrás de la cortina
Hebreos 6:18-20

Jesús fue detrás de la cortina

Against All Odds — against all odds / contra todo pronóstico

Praying Through

Acts 12:1-19

Is the weather rough
On your life here?
Having trouble trusting?
Are you in fear?

Are the winds blowing
Hard on your soul,
So strong that you aren’t
Letting God have control?

When Peter was put in chains
The Church knew what to do.
They got together
And earnestly prayed through.

Then the chains fell
And Peter walked away free.
The Church was astonished
At what they did see.

Do the dark clouds overcast you
With not one answer found?
Then it’s time to pray through,
‘Twill make your life abound.

Orando con fervor

Hechos 12:1-19

¿Está haciendo un mal tiempo
aquí, en tu vida, ahora?
¿Estás teniendo sentimientos de temor
y crees que tu confianza no aflora?

¿Están soplando los vientos
violentamente contra tu alma,
tan fuerte que no dejas a Dios
tomar control sobre la calma?

Cuando Pedro fue encarcelado
la congregación sabía qué hacer:
se reunieron, fueron juntados
y oraron hasta el anochecer.

Entonces las cadenas cayeron

When the Blessings Come

When the blessings come,
Flooding o’er our soul,
We’re immeasurably enriched
Knowing God has control.

When the blessings come,
We are filled with joy,
Not something we’ve done,
But what God employs.

When the blessings come,
Happiness new again starts –
A cloudburst flowing
Though our hearts.

Cuando venga la bendición

Cuando venga la bendición
e ilumine nuestras almas como el sol,
nos enriquecerá inmesurablemente

Why Am I Getting These Poems In Spanish?

“I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” (Holy Bible – I Corinthians 9:22b – NIV)

Dear Followers,

Good afternoon!

You have been receiving my poems in English and Spanish recently. I am having an opportunity to have some of my poems translated and want to minister to a wider group.

Some of you have been wondering, “Why am I getting these poems in Spanish?”

I would like to explain what happens with this WordPress.com based system which I use to publish these poems.

When I use the WordPress.com system to get my poems out to my own ChristianPoetryPublishing.com and possibly picked up by web browsers, I must also publish to my WordPress and email followers at the same time.

This is all one event that happens when I click the Publish button. So everything is interrelated.

I can’t divide up things like choosing who gets posts (or emails) in English and who gets posts (and emails) in Spanish, etc.

I hope that this explains this to you.

If you know anyone who reads Spanish, if they would like, please forward these Christian readings onto them.

Vigilia Matutina (Morning Watch)

Vigilia Matutina

Salmo 23

En una verde colina aquí sentado
en paz, con aves entonando su canto.
Disfrutando el ambiente insuflado
de aire fresco para un momento santo.

Con la Biblia entre mis manos
y el salmo 23 con fe buscando,
mi vigilia matutina llevo a cabo
adorando a Dios en su remanso.

Con las Escrituras leyendo y meditando
que ando con mi mentor y mi defensor;
su vara y cayado están a mi lado.
Conmigo está Dios, mi buen pastor.

Y en este recinto considero mi vía,
en tan precioso y acogedor momento.
Así, me voy emprendiendo mi día
cerca de Dios en su aposento.

Morning Watch

Morning Watch

Psalm 23

Sitting on hilly green grass.
Such a peaceful time.
Air fresh and cool.
Quiet, except the birds’ chimes.

With Bible in hand,
Looking up Psalm 23,
Morning watching,
Just God and me.

Reading and pondering:
My Defender and Guide –
My Good Shepherd, God.
His rod and staff alongside.

Leaving this place and moment.
Precious and so compelling.
I go into my day.
Close to God dwelling.

Remembering those quiet times in the morning when I attended Bible Camp, we young campers went to different areas and read and meditated on God’s Word. It was such a wonderful way to start the day feeling so close to God.

Gozo en la mañana (Joy in the Morning)

Gozo en la mañana

(Basado en Salmos 30)

Mientras cada día el sol se va de ocaso,
y de dicha lumbrera se va todo rastro,
una profunda tristeza despide un llanto
con ecos que alcanzan hasta los astros.

Un lugar de espantosas condiciones
aquel foso en el que Daniel fue arrojado,
para enfrentarse a hambrientos leones,
en donde oró a Dios esperanzado.

Y cuando la mañana al fin llegó
el rey abajo le gritó: “¿Ahí estás?”
Y Daniel con voz fuerte respondió
“Sí, aún en manos de Jehová.”

Luego, José al hoyo fue arrojado,
de espesa oscuridad sumergido,
pero luego al fin fue elevado
y hasta una corona fue ascendido.

Jesús fue al madero de tormento
cargando con los pecados nuestros.
Mientras la luz se fue en decremento
sufría nuestro más grande maestro.

Pero la luz de la mañana se diseminó
y clamaron ángeles con canto inspirado:
“Aquí su cuerpo hace tres días yació,
y de los muertos ya fue levantado”.

Cuando somos devastados por la calamidad,
de esas oscuras noches de nuestra existencia,
debemos aferrarnos a la esperanza con seguridad
de que al alba Dios nos dará gozo en su benevolencia.

Cuando un amigo perdió a su mujer, especialmente de súbito, este se sintió desolado. Cundo un compañero de clases tuvo a un ser querido enfermo, se sintió devastado. Joy in the Morning

Joy in the Morning

(Based on Psalm 30)

As the Sun goes down each day,
And far past any light,
There’s a deep sadness and crying heard,
Which echoes through the night.

In days of old, it was a dismal den
That Daniel was put in,
To face those hungry lions,
He prayed to God again.

And when the morning came,
The king yelled, “Are you there?”
And Daniel with a strong voice replied,
“Yes, still in Jehovah’s care.”

Then Joseph thrown into the pit
With darkness all around,
Was after pulled up
And up and up to the brilliance of a crown.

Jesus went to the Cross,
Becoming sin for you and me,
As darkness covered the land,
A bleak picture indeed.

But as the morning’s light shone
And then the angels said,
“He is not here,
He’s risen from the dead.”

When we are devastated by calamity
The nighttime of our lives,
We must hang on to the hope that in the morning
God will make it joyful and we’ll revive.

When a friend has lost a spouse, especially suddenly, they feel desolated. When a classmate has a loved one who is very ill, they feel devastated. These tears in the night times eventually turn, not necessarily to fleeting happiness, but to rejoicing in the morning through God’s mercy and grace.

Ya Él se ha encargado de los asuntos

2 Crónicas 20:1-30

El problema puede ser difícil
Mientras surge en nuestro camino,
O quizá no sea tan ardua la senda
A medida que se esclarece el destino.

Oramos y pedimos ayuda al Señor
Y luego cantamos una canción,
Porque ya Él se encargó del asunto
Y la vida no será una tribulación.

Por las Escrituras animado,
Por Su Palabra reconfortado.
Ya Él del asunto se ha encargado,
Eso es lo que he escuchado.

Ya que Su Hijo en el Calvario
Por ti y por mí en el madero murió,
Él así se encargó del asunto
Y del pecado al fin nos libró.

Y entonces de la muerte
Se levantó el domingo aquel.
