Windows to the Soul
Proverbs 15:30
With the face masks and all,
When you look around these days,
In the essential stores or outside walking,
You notice a lot of eyes coming your way.
Although you don’t see any mouths,
Because they’re colorfully bound.
What’s happening under there?
You hope a smile, not a frown.
“The eyes are windows to the soul.”
Squinting, wide, wistful,
Downcast, upward looking,
Caring.
Serious, hurt, surprised,
Blinking, twinkling, gazing,
Glancing, darting, evading,
Glaring.
Most follow the safety rules,
Peering over assorted covers.
But even seeing only eyes –
Let’s take time to enjoy each other.
