Wake Up American Christians!

American FlagWake Up American Christians!

Over the years people,
From their countries flee,
To be in America –
Living free.

Our freedoms
Of religion and speech today
Are being quickly –
Taken away.

Did God leave America
Or America God?
No matter which way it went,
We need to repent.

Wake up American Christians!
To help save our freedoms.
There’s no place left to go
For the freedom we know.

Are we becoming more like some other countries and them like us?  As we lose our freedoms, are others gaining more and more?  We can see the pattern, throughout history, when a country leaves God.

Our prayer must be that freedom increases in our country and in all others as we do a complete turn around in our own  lives.

True individual freedom comes only when we trust Jesus Christ for salvation from being a slave to wrongdoing (sin) against God.  “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed”.  [Holy Bible – John 8: 36 – NIV]

A Prayer for America

A Prayer for America

Dear God,

Thank You for our great country,
You’ve preserved throughout the years.
Birthed and sustained with blood
And with a great many tears.

Thank You for this country
Which You’ve blessed,
Times over and over,
Making us so prosperous.

We thank You for how
To other countries a help we’ve been
Looking to us in bad times:
Trouble, illness, poverty, just when.

We pray for our President and family,
Senators, Representatives, Judges, too.
Governors, Mayors, Councilmembers,
Just to name a few.

Looking toward You
May they seek Your wisdom,
Not their own,
In actions and decisions.

We pray that America turns
From our wrongs against You,
That You will forgive us
For all the wickedness we do.

We thank You for blessing America.
We praise Your Name above,
As You’ve granted goodness to America
Thank you for your love.

In Jesus name, Amen.

On this, our Independence Day, we take time to thank God for our country.  Also, as at no other time  in the history of our nation, it is time that we change and ask God for forgiveness for breaking His commandments; and then He will heal our land.  (See the Holy Bible  – 2 Chronicles 7:14.)  It’s time also for us to trust Christ as our personal Savior (if we haven’t); and then to bathe in His wonderful grace.

I welcome some new followers today!  I am so glad to have you, and all others reading these poems.

The Unfinished Picture

gwashington

The Unfinished Picture

The unfinished picture
Hangs framed on the wall,
Of the grade school,
Right down the hall.

The children see it daily,
Passing to and from class,
Though it stands against
What the teachers all ask.

To finish your work,
Is a “golden rule”,
Which the teachers always say,
A rule of the school.

Only partly done,
Not to be hypercritical,
But up there, not finished
Is pretty hypocritical.

“The Athenaeum Portrait” incomplete
by painter Gilbert Stuart is no mystery.
The principal merely undertook
To inform children about history.

The depiction of the school’s namesake,
The Father of Our Country,
George Washington
Is who it is, you see.

Kids love President Washington,
Who did so much,
To help begin our country,
In God he did trust.

But how can this portrait
Be in the hall?
Concluded –
It wasn’t all.

To not finish
Is a poor sample.
To not finish
Is not a good example.

[This poem not completed
because deadline to publish
before Presidents’ Day.]

Washington did trust in God and is a good example for each of us.  The painter made
money from copying the painting, but never finished the original.

Mother and George Washington

Mother and George Washington

The Father of our Country’s
Birthday is today.
It’s memorable,
But not in only one way.

Because, you see, our dear Mother
Was born on this day, too.
She remains such a blessing
For me and also you.

With ice cream (a la mode)
As we eat our cherry pie,
We’ll remember George and Mother
We cannot tell a lie.

So, we see that we are double blessed,
In 1918 Mother, and George 1732.
Both meaning so much to all of us,
Born on February Twenty-Two.
