Thank You for Your Service!

The old man walks into a market
With a slow limping gait, but steady,
To pick up a few things.
His cautiously budgeted list ready.

He wears a slim cap, forward to back,
With a lot of earned pins
From the VFW and
From the wars he’d fought in.

A young guy approaches,
A little reluctant at first and nervous,
But then with a firm voice says,
“Thank you for your service!”

The elder observes the boy
Looking him right in the eyes.
Then utters, “You‘re welcome.”
Lips quivering as if he might cry.

They part ways,
But in that one moment, earnest,
He has acknowledged him
For sustaining our country, fervent.

Remembering our troops
On this Veterans Day observance,
Let’s also stop and thank them
For their loyal service.

Veterans Day is a good time to remember the sacrifice of our Veterans in service to our country. However, anytime is an excellent time. We must not forget what they have done to keep us free!

Our USA Congress Prayer and Our American Prayer

Our USA Congress Prayer

We should pray for all in Congress
To know Jesus Christ as their friend.
To know Him personally from within.
To follow God’s Word, start to end.

Jesus Christ is their only Hope
For Salvation of their soul.
To live with God in Heaven
Should be their priority goal.

We need to pray for all of Congress
Who do not follow Him.
He is the only light they have.
Now their trust and Salvation needs to begin.

Our American Prayer

If we all follow Jesus in the USA,
Then our freedom will come back,
Just as it has been taken away.
Pray! . . . Pray! . . Pray!

It’s That Time!

It’s That Time!

It’s Black Friday –
Hitting the bricks and mortars
Through the burst doors.
Be aware of those gift hoarders!

Getting there early,
Even then you could be late.
Deep savings.
BOGO* might be the bait.

On Cyber Monday
Better deals your catching.
Free shipping, buying memberships,
But personal information they’re snatching.

Surfing for gifts,
Much faster, too.
You’d even wish to drone them
To Aunt Sue and Uncle Lou.

But Giving Tuesday
Is really the best
Contributing to selfless causes
To make a big difference.

The Salvation Army, the fire victims help.
Boys and Girls Clubs, fun things the kids can do.
Wounded Warrior Project, empowering Vets.
World Vision, gifting the needy something new.

So don’t forget Giving Tuesday,
On your calendar this year,
Bringing hope to others,
And a lot of Christmas cheer.

Thank You for Your Service!

Graduation Day

Graduation Day

Verse 1:
I remember so well my high school days
At the school outside of town,
How I used to think of tests
And always give a frown,
But I knew the work was not in vain
Because of the reward.

Chorus:
Graduation Day!
Graduation Day!
At last I’ve passed the Test!
Hallelujah!
At last I’m home to Rest.

Verse 2:
Each test I tried to pass myself.
Alone I could not do it!
The teacher helped and guided me.
He guided me right through it,
But I knew the work was not in vain
Because of the reward.

(Chorus)

Verse 3:
When my life on earth is over
And I have passed the Test
A Graduation Day I’ll see
And it will be the best!
But I know the work was not in vain
Because of the Reward.

(Chorus)

Verse 4:
The commencement speech is giv’n by God.
He’ll say, “I love you so!
I sent my Son to die for you
And now you truly know
A great diploma you’ll receive.
The Teacher loves you so.”

When a Christian dies this is not the end. It is really their Graduation Day – a Graduation to Heaven.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” [Holy Bible – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – NIV]

Our Hope and Prayer

Our Hope and Prayer

Today 2015
The prophecies
Are being fulfilled
In dynamic ways revealed.

God wants us to trust
Him in all things,
As we watch and pray
Each changing day.

Pray without ceasing,
Pray with your family,
Pray with your friends,
If you want to see amends.

Satan in our land today –
With us doesn’t toy.
Everywhere going –
Destroy! Destroy!! Destroy!!!

God needs to hear our prayers,
As we fervently ask
For mercy –
“Please forgive our nation for the past.”

God powerfully could change this picture,
As we pray, in unity, against Satan’s foils.
Turning this land back to Him,
Making Satan recoil. Our Hope.

A Prayer for America

A Prayer for America

Dear God,

Thank You for our great country,
You’ve preserved throughout the years.
Birthed and sustained with blood
And with a great many tears.

Thank You for this country
Which You’ve blessed,
Times over and over,
Making us so prosperous.

We thank You for how
To other countries a help we’ve been
Looking to us in bad times:
Trouble, illness, poverty, just when.

We pray for our President and family,
Senators, Representatives, Judges, too.
Governors, Mayors, Councilmembers,
Just to name a few.

Looking toward You
May they seek Your wisdom,
Not their own,
In actions and decisions.

We pray that America turns
From our wrongs against You,
That You will forgive us
For all the wickedness we do.

We thank You for blessing America.
We praise Your Name above,
As You’ve granted goodness to America
Thank you for your love.

In Jesus name, Amen.

On this, our Independence Day, we take time to thank God for our country. Also, as at no other time in the history of our nation, it is time that we change and ask God for forgiveness for breaking His commandments; and then He will heal our land. (See the Holy Bible – 2 Chronicles 7:14.) It’s time also for us to trust Christ as our personal Savior (if we haven’t); and then to bathe in His wonderful grace.
