The Word of Christ
Taught in the Spirit of Christ
(Ozark Christian College – 1942 – 2017)
Colossians 1:28

“The Word of Christ
Taught in the Spirit of Christ”
For everyone to see.
This is the heart of OCC.

It isn’t the campus
Or any accreditation.
It’s how the Bible is presented.
That’s the real acclamation.

Faculty – men and women of God,
In their own lives show,
The life of Christ,
Faces warm and aglow.

Gospel truths,
Professors study and share
To challenge each
And hearts prepare.

All students – missionaries –
Christian soldiers trained for God,
Ambassadors
Going here and abroad.

So through 75 years past,
And it will always be –
“The Word of Christ
Taught in the Spirit of Christ”
At our cherished OCC.

Our USA Congress Prayer and Our American Prayer

icon033 - Praying Hands 5

Our USA Congress Prayer

We should pray for all in Congress
To know Jesus Christ as their friend.
To know Him personally from within.
To follow God’s Word, start to end.

Jesus Christ is their only Hope
For Salvation of their soul.
To live with God in Heaven
Should be their priority goal.

We need to pray for all of Congress
Who do not follow Him.
He is the only light they have.
Now their trust and Salvation needs to begin.

Our American Prayer

If we all follow Jesus in the USA,
Then our freedom will come back,
Just as it has been taken away.
Pray! . . . Pray! . . Pray!

My Pocket Poem

My Pocket Poem

A poem in my pocket,
A Bible on my desk,
A chapter book on my bed,
My blurry eyes I rest.

Next morning when I see Mom,
She asks me what I’ve read,
“It’s a rhyming poem about Jesus’ life
For ‘Poem in Your Pocket Day’,’’ I said.

April is National Poetry Month.  April 30th is Poem in Your Pocket Day.  This is a day when people carry a poem with them and read it aloud to others.  My poem, for children, is to emphasize this day.

I appreciate what Larry Pine wrote in his South Bay Concert News (March) referring to my Poetry Reading on February 6th, 2015, the following:

“The Christian poetry of Charles Mayes added a creative break to the Bethel Hymn Sing. Even poems with motions for Children’s programs . . . ”

Thank you for following my site.  Also, if you have stopped by for awhile I really appreciate it. May God richly bless you!

The Final Poem

The Final Poem
(Matthew 25:21- ERV)

The poet’s mind stood still like a block,
Resembling embers of a fire – soon gone.
Ideas hard to come by,
Now God’s refreshment to wait on.

At once, the author’s name was called,
A strong voice was heard –
“You are a good servant who can be trusted. . . ”
“Share my happiness,” was His Word.

An angel escorted the writer through a gate,
Where the poet walked on streets of gold.
There, no light, but God’s,
As the Bible foretold.

There was no crying,
Nor sickness, nor pain,
Just Love flowing freely
Through the power of Jesus name.

Then as swiftly as the dream had begun,
The poet awakened at the new dawn of light.
The poet’s mind spinning with astonishing,
New glorious ideas to write.

April is National Poetry Month designated by the American Academy of Poets.  This is not my final poem, Lord willing, but shows how dependent Christian poets are on God for inspiration to keep on writing poems for His glory.

Noah’s Story

noah_02

      Noah’s Story

Sin was everywhere,
Grieving God to despair.
God choose my family to be saved.
He, through me, a new way paved.

Building the Ark against the flood.
The work hard, but had to be done.
This was our salvation,
And for others to come.

God shut the door.
Pairs of animals in my care.
Away from the wickedness.
Away from the fear.

Today, people living on this earth,
Your sin could be gone,
If your salvation is in Jesus – the Cross.
Then God’s will is done.

The movie, “Noah”, has done extremely well around the world.  This shows that people are really interested in this.  May this create a new interest in a belief of a worldwide flood.

A good friend of mine recently made me aware of Ken Ham’s excellent ministry and website:  http://www.answersingenesis.org
