Anniversary 10 – Amen

IN 2008 SOME HARD CIRCUMSTANCES opened my eyes to my total dependence on God. From this emerged my ministry of writing Christian poetry readings seriously and frequently.

April Fools’ Day

Today is April Fools’ Day.
It’s a lot of fun
Until the shoe is on the other foot.
Then it’s really bummed.

Speaking of shoes,
There’s always, “Your shoe’s untied.”
Or “There’s a spider behind you!”
Let’s run away and hide.

From rubber snakes to
The arrow “through” the head,
Jokes from morning
Until time to go to bed.

Even at the office,
Giving out bogus pink slips
Isn’t so funny when the perpetrator
Gets from his boss, lip.

And on the Internet,
You’d think we’d get a rest.
Tricked by our own browser,
But only meant in jest.

Good measured pranks are OK.
But ordering pizzas to a friend’s door
Or setting cell phones to ring at 3 am
May boomerang, ruining esprit de corps.

Today is April Fools’ Day.
It’s a lot of fun
Until the shoe is on the other foot
Then it’s really bummed.

Easter on April Fools’ Day

Easter on April Fools’ Day

Matthew 7:24-29; 28:6

When Easter is on April Fools' Day,
It reminds me of a story Jesus told
About the wise and the foolish man
Who built houses, one a strong-hold.

The wise man
Built his house on the Rock.
Then when the elements hit,
It stayed in place with all the knocks.

The foolish man
Built his house with no Foundation.
Then when bad weather came,
It crashed after severe gyrations.

When the angel says, "He has Risen."
Which kind are you?
Wise - believing and receiving.
Foolish - rejecting and leaving.

When Easter is on April Fools' Day
It reminds me of a story Jesus told
About the wise and the foolish man
Who built houses, one a strong-hold.
